CUTTING CORNERS FOR THE RIGHT CURVES![]() Lockton Companies (formally known as Alexander Forbes) has a swanky new office now at Robinson Road. The new office layout apparently had some very odd corners, making placement of office sections a very challenging task. Most importantly, even though ready for a new look, Lockton favoured the maintenance of certain elements of their old office. To counter the corners, curves were introduced and it started with designing a curved reception to panel off the walls and odd corners. The curved approach was then carried out through to the waiting area, which is surrounded by meeting rooms, resulting in a ‘flowy’ effect. Also, by using floor-to-ceiling glass panels and doors, the design allowed light to naturally flow in from the perimeter windows to the interior spaces. In addition, the company’s corporate colours, taupe and maroon, were used to inspire a palette of warm and soft yet functional mix of hues. Certain elements of the old office, such as the company’s classy timber doors and full height cabinets were retained and fitted into the new office. Overall, the design concept features a clean, sleek, contemporary and professional outlook. HRM |
