DB&B Singapore Wins the Best Office Interior 2014 for Pratt & Whitney

Singapore, May 2014 – DB&B wins the prestigious “Best Office Interior – Singapore” at the International Property Awards 2014. This is the firm’s winning for third time consecutively in the Award’s office interiors category. Phillips Connor led the design for Pratt & Whitney’s Singapore office, which outperformed a number of strong contenders within the commercial interiors design arena. Commenting on the distinguished qualities of the project, Connor said, “Our holistic approach applies a language of aeronautical & aerospace elements that pervades the planning, form, detailing and finishing of all spaces. ‘Engine for Growth’ is a concept symbolizing Pratt & Whitney’s core businesses and identity as a new entrant to the ASEAN market.” The concept proposes a synchronistic modular approach that was designed to suit unique business unit compartmentalization, whilst providing a flexible, future-adaptable footprint. A central circulation “spine” that connects public and private areas, simultaneously segregates the office from adjacent industrial premises. The central nexus of the spine is a dynamic “Engine” heart on each floor; serving as an employee chill out and café, bringing together diverse groups in a newly egalitarian and collaborative way. DB&B Singapore’s Executive Director Jeannette Siew commented, “We consistently push ourselves to be more nimble and adaptable so that we may meet our Clients’ expectations and exceed their aspirations. This award is evidence of that. We are honoured to have won in the face of strong competition; yet at the same time we remain humble in our discipline to produce works respected on the international stage.” Stuart Shield, president of the International Property Awards, says, “It never ceases to amaze me how competing companies from the Asia Pacific region continue to raise the bar even higher every year. The commitment to excellence they demonstrate in every aspect of their profession represents the very essence of these awards.” View Pratt & Whitney’s office here.

DB&B Shanghai Wins Best Office Interior (China) for Jumpstart L’Avenue International Property Awards 2013-2014

Shanghai, May 2013 – DB&B Shanghai has scored a “Best in Category” 5-Star Award for Jumpstart L’Avenue at this year’s International Property Awards held at Kuala Lumpur on 10 May 2013. This is the second consecutive win for Senior Designer Ives Wu and his team. He bagged a Highly Commended Award for Jumpstart Wheelock Square last year. “We are tremendously proud of what you have done. Your design team is incredibly talented and the technical teams from construction to customer service are excellent. This is the reason why we have used DB&B for several of our offices, and we will continue to do so,” added Chapman Leung, Managing Director of Jumpstart Business Centre. Jumpstart L’Avenue is the biggest and most luxurious business centre facility under the Jumpstart Group to date. It is housed in one of Shanghai’s most prestigious mix-use retail and commercial addresses, the iconic L’Avenue complex purpose built for the LVMH Group. Home to the LVMH headquarters and scores of designer labels like Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, Chaumet and De Beers, L’Avenue is a symbol of “arrival”. Our design approach for this new centre was to create a novel experience for the clients of Jumpstart. The motivation was simple: to invite users to enjoy the space and facilities with a sense of discovery and destination. The concept of “islands” was thus implemented. Elements of a client hospitality structure, supported by the impeccable service standards of Jumpstart, made it possible for this design concept to work. In the L’Avenue “Islands of Destiny”, our designers reinvented the notion of business for Jumpstart… to allow space to facilitate the discovery towards a destiny of opportunities. For Jumpstart L’Avenue, our designers featured two ideas. Distinct yet complementary, these design and construction approaches were based on the “islands” concept. Circular Chamfers: To create islands within the layout plan, our designers used the “J” in Jumpstart to develop circular chamfers as construction highlights. Without being ostentatious in the use of colours and lighting to express the notion of corporate luxury, the islands of meeting space were conspicuously designed to “float and meet” serendipitously. Wings of Illumination: As a follow up to the award winning “J” lighting design of the first Jumpstart office in Shanghai, our designers challenged design innovation to create a new light and illumination experience for this office. Integrating the signature “J” lighting design into the circular chamfer construction, waves of light were created to highlight room entrances and key spaces. Subtly elegant yet robust, the “wings of illumination” present a sense of freedom and adventure to the “Islands of Destiny” at Jumpstart L’Avenue. View the project showcase here.
