Evolving a Workplace for Continuity and Growth
MOL Asia Oceania entrusted us once again to enhance their workplace, building on our earlier collaboration across Levels 14 to 17 at UIC Building. This phase focuses specifically on Level 14, where an existing vacant unit is reconfigured into an expanded MOL Café and training facility to support evolving workplace needs.
As the number of business units and employees within this workplace continue to grow, the objective is to strengthen workplace experience and foster greater engagement through shared spaces, while additional workstation capacity is introduced across other levels to support the expanding team. The refurbishment introduces more flexible environments, enhances collaboration areas and supports the way teams connect and interact today.
The design builds upon the original workplace concept, refining and extending its language to reflect MOL’s ongoing growth while maintaining consistency across the overall environment.
Inspired by MOL’s heritage in global logistics, the design continues the established language while elevating spatial experience through considered material enhancements, lighting and planning. Existing furniture is retained and thoughtfully integrated into the refreshed environment, supporting both continuity and responsible resource use.
Hospitality driven spaces are further developed to support collaboration, wellbeing and informal interaction, reinforcing a more connected and cohesive workplace across business units.
A Fluid First Impression
As part of the refurbishment, the reception is reimagined to enhance both arrival experience and spatial continuity. Defined by a soft curvilinear language, the space introduces a fluid and welcoming transition into the workplace while maintaining MOL’s established sense of professionalism and clarity.
A sculpted ceiling with integrated lighting traces the geometry of the space, subtly guiding movement from entrance to interior.
Comfort in Transition
Positioned just beyond the reception, the waiting lounge continues the spatial language established at arrival, guiding visitors along a gentle curved path towards the pantry.
Defined by a bold geometric acoustic wall in deep blue tones, the space introduces a strong visual identity while maintaining a calm and composed atmosphere. Soft lounge seating supports both individual pause and informal interaction, balancing comfort with spatial clarity.
A suspended bonsai installation serves as a subtle focal point, drawing inspiration from the horizon. Positioned between ceiling and floor, it reflects the balance of a vessel poised at sea. This symbolism reinforces stability and continuity, representing the maritime industry’s enduring ability to remain afloat and navigate with confidence.

The Social Anchor
The MOL Café is reimagined as a vibrant social hub, the pantry draws on café inspired hospitality with a sculpted bar counter and expressive ceiling lighting. A combination of textured finishes and patterned surfaces creates visual identity while maintaining spatial clarity within the open plan.

Spaces for Exchange
Located adjacent to the café, this collaboration zone combines open visibility with semi private booths defined by soft colour framed niches. It supports focused discussions and informal interaction, balancing privacy with connectivity while maintaining a fluid relationship with the surrounding workplace.

Flexible by Design
The café integrates with a flexible training space, separated by operable walls that enable seamless transformation. When enclosed, it supports focused learning sessions and when opened, it expands into a townhall setting. This adaptability accommodates diverse activities while reinforcing openness, connectivity and efficient use of space.

This refurbishment demonstrates how thoughtful design can extend the life of an existing workplace while elevating its performance and experience. By enhancing key spaces and introducing greater flexibility, MOL’s office is renewed to support future growth, collaboration and operational excellence.
The result is a workplace that respects its foundations while evolving to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
